The Market and the Monkey’s Paw is a short documentary that critically explores the impacts of the Bitcoin in El Salvador, told from the perspective of locals and those involved in the Bitcoin community. This film seeks to illuminate the motivations, risks, and challenges of introducing Bitcoin to the country. It was directed by Leo Safir and produced by Oliver Richards. Graham New was Director of Photography and Brian Sol was Editor.
Leo Safir is a senior at UCSB in the Global Studies Department. He worked on this project with the support of CLAIR Faculty Affiliate, Prof. Nicole Cerpa Vielma.
