Professor Repinecz’s research focuses on questions of race and colonial memory in Francoist and contemporary Spain and the global Hispanophone world. His Volatile Whiteness: Cinema, Race, and Europeanization in Spain is forthcoming with the University of Toronto Press. This project argues that during the 1960s-80s, popular film genres such as comedy, action, musical and religious cinema exploited various racial iconographies in order to erode the racialized image of Spain as an "Africa of Europe" and establish the nation's belonging in global whiteness.

He is the co-founder of TRECE (Taller de Raza, Etnicidad y Ciudadanía en España), a research group that theorizes and conceptualizes race in contemporary Spain.
