This workshop offers a practical and strategic introduction to grant-seeking, development, and management for researchers engaged in community-engaged research. Designed for faculty, graduate students, and research administrators, the session demystifies the full lifecycle of externally funded projects, from identifying appropriate funding opportunities and developing competitive proposals to managing grants responsibly and sustaining long-term community partnerships. Particular attention is given to the ethical, relational, and institutional dimensions of community-engaged scholarship, including co-designing research agendas with community partners, aligning funder priorities with local needs, budgeting for equitable collaboration, and navigating university compliance structures. Drawing on real-world examples and interactive discussions, the workshop emphasizes strategies for building durable research infrastructures, cultivating interdisciplinary teams, and translating scholarly work into meaningful social impact. Participants will be introduced to concrete cases, planning frameworks, and best practices to support successful, accountable, and community-centered grant-funded research.
